Team Member Profile: Monique Snead

When one company buys another, it often means some of the employees will have to move on to other opportunities. That can be a blessing, though, and it was every bit of that when Monique Snead’s then-employer Foxpoint Trucks was sold to OTR Leasing in 2025.
After six years handling the underwriting, compliance, documentation and processing of truck leases for Foxpoint, the lifelong Kansas City resident realized that it was time to look for her next professional opportunity. It was the same situation that faced her former Foxpoint colleague Patrick Meyer, who called her with good news:
He had joined Bestway International as finance director, and he thought it was just the place for Monique, who joined him at Bestway as business process finance analyst.
“He reached out and said, ‘I’m really enjoying where I’m at here. I think if you’re interested you could make a really great impact as well,’” Monique recalls.
It didn’t take long for Monique to realize Patrick was right.
“I loved it from the second Jay and I met,” Monique says. “It’s phenomenal here. It’s an experience where everyone gives 100 percent, and that’s rare. I have always had a very strong work ethic, and it’s just great to be in an environment where everyone around you has that same work ethic and enjoys what they do.”
That’s been proven for Monique since she joined the company in September, but she saw it right away.
“You see it from the second you walk through the door,” she says. “It’s the personable feel. Your contribution is welcome and valued.”
Monique also values her opportunity to contribute at Bestway – a company that’s growing and has a need to maintain smooth and efficient operations as it does.
“I help with a lot of the finance and accounting roles, but I also help develop improvement areas,” she says. “We have a lot of departments that might use different programs. Our import department might use one program and our sales department might use something else. So part of what I’m doing is learning everything and then understanding it to recognize how we can improve it.”
In some cases that might involve automating a function, while in others it might involve streamlining, or providing better support to Bestway’s operators.
Monique is drawing on 20 years of experience in finance and operations, including 14 with Pioneer Services working in subprime financing, followed by seven years with Foxpoint.
It helped to prepare her for the growing, fast-paced environment at Bestway, and she’s quickly mastering the whole operation.
“I’ve got a pretty strong handle on our multiple inboxes, like our accounts payable and accounts receivable inboxes,” Monique says. “Managing those and having strong communication with our external vendor and customers – and partnering with them to make sure we have consistent communication and their needs are being met – the communication I’ve seen over the past 60 days tells me we’re heading in a great direction.”
It’s also a great situation for Monique’s family, which includes two daughters – a junior at the University of Missouri and a seventh grader who is nonverbal autistic. One of Monique’s recent discoveries has been a program at her younger daughter’s school that allows her and other students with challenges to make and sell items so they can learn creativity and independence.
“I never thought I would see anything like that,” she shares.
For Monique, many of the surprises of late have been good ones.
