Bestway Team Gives Its Best for Domestic Violence Survivors at Hope House

Hope House offers those in the Kansas City area exactly what the name suggests – the hope of a safe refuge for those impacted by domestic violence, as well as a voice for social change that stands up for people’s right to live free of abuse.

This mission is close to Bestway’s heart, which is why four of our team members enjoyed their February 19 visit to Hope House.

Ethan Becker, Kaitlin Rusbarsky, Alex Wick and Monique Snead embraced the opportunity during their visit to organize clothing donations. The experience was so positive that it will be followed in March by another group consisting of Ryan Shannon, Katelyn Eagen and Libby Hausman.

If one could break down the core of Hope House’s message to those in need, it would simply be, “It’s time to feel safe.”

It’s the sort of safety that most people can take for granted in the course of their daily lives, but for others is elusive even – and in many cases especially – in their own homes.

In addition to the facility that serves as a refuge for survivors of domestic abuse and other types of abuse, Hope House also offers resources such as a Domestic Violence Action Plan and connections to a variety of other resources who can also help.

Hope House opened its doors on January 1, 1983, and has served thousands of individuals in the 43 years since. The organization’s mission is compelling:

“Hope House’s Mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing safe refuge and supportive services that educate and empower those impacted by domestic violence. Hope House will advocate social change that protects and engenders a person’s right to live a life free of abuse.”
