Team Member Profile: Patrick Meyer

Bestway International’s director of finance came to the company in August 2025 with a diversity of experiences that few could match.
It might be a stretch to say that Patrick Meyer did everything in finance before joining Bestway. But just consider some of the many different ventures for which he provided financial management:
- A soccer team
- A clothing company
- A blanket factory
- A title insurance company
- A management appraisal services company
- A Florida-based brokerage
- A warehouse servicing Amazon deliveries
And before you think, “He’s had a lot of jobs,” understand: These were all part of one job, at a company called Nations Holding, where Meyer turned a college-era internship into a 15-year career.
A University of Missouri graduate, Meyer parlayed that 2002 internship into a full-time accounting position and learned a great deal about business finance. In 2018, he took that array of experiences to FoxPoint Trucks, a startup that took advantage of dynamics in the trucking industry to create a business opportunity.
“It was a startup when I went there,” Meyer says. “We went out and bought trucks that were hitting a certain point on the depreciation curve, and we would lease them. A lot of the large carriers were getting away from having a lot of trucks, so they would just hire owner-operators – many of whom didn’t have the capacity to buy their own trucks.”
Meyer’s experience handling all these ventures – and building the systems that could support the operations – appealed to Bestway as the company sought to take its finance operations to the next level. When Meyer arrived, he recognized that different parts of the company had their own data silos – and that presented an opportunity to bring in systems that could make the process more efficient.
“My prior work taught me about allowing systems to talk to each other,” Meyer says. “It was a good fit to come in and take the company in that direction.”
Meyer’s vision is to develop a data warehouse, which will streamline information and make it easier to build reports that can aid in good decision-making.
“When you have that data, you can do more things with it,” he says. “You can build better cash-flow models and financial projections. The more data you have, the better.”
The timing of Meyer’s arrival has been good, as well, since he joined the company during its critical foray into the Entrepreneurial Operating System. The open and collaborative process has helped him meld with the team and plug his ideas into a company that is already in a mindset of challenging itself.
“I love how everybody has a voice,” Meyer says. “These weekly meetings get people to embrace what they call rocks – everyone having a goal every quarter to get something accomplished. And we keep eyes on it, so you don’t see three months go by and nothing happen. It keeps things at the forefront and holds you accountable to try to do more.”
Meyer is used to big changes in his life. One of the first he recalls is showing up at the University of Missouri for his first day of classes – having come from a small farm town in northwest Missouri with a high school graduating class of 12.
“My first class at Mizzou had about 500 people in it,” he says. “That’s probably more than I had in my entire hometown.”
But he adapted and adjusted, and turned the challenge into a success. And in a good development for Bestway and its customers, he’s still doing that.
