Bestway Team Puts on the Ritz to Help Raise a Half Million For Children’s Place

Our team can clean up pretty nice when we want to, and we especially want to when it’s for a really good cause. That was the case on the evening of Friday, April 17, when a group from Bestway dressed to the nines for Party for the Place – a major fundraiser for Children’s Place.

This spectacular charity gala, held at the Loews Kansas City Hotel, raised $564,000 for the organization.

Children’s Place, founded in 1978, serves the mental health needs of young children by operating as a specialized trauma center. With a specialty helping children up to eight years old, Children’s Place helps young people heal from life’s deepest hurts such as child abuse and neglect.

In many cases, the children who are helped by Children’s Place are living in a home with an unpredictable adult who has mental health or substance abuse issues. Often through early intervention, Children’s Place is able to mitigate future health and social issues.

Among the services offered at Children’s Place are assessments, screenings, a counseling center, family support and day treatment. There is also a facility dog to brighten the children’s day, and The Children’s Place on Wheels, a mobile mental health therapy playroom that travels the community in a minibus retrofitted for this purpose.

The Bestway team also volunteers for the Storytime at the Place program at Children’s Place.

“Our team had a wonderful time at Party for the Place,” said Bestway Vice President Jack McDonough. “We are thrilled that the event raised so much to help Children’s Place fulfill its mission, and that we can be the kind of company that prioritizes this sort of impact in the community.”
