Bestway International’s support for The Children’s Place is well established, so the ongoing food drive Bestway is running for the organization fits well with our overall mission to help this group and the children who rely on it.
But the food drive has a modern twist. While you will find boxes in the Bestway lobby overflowing with canned goods and other non-perishables, you can also process all of your contributions on Amazon.
That’s where you’ll find The Children’s Place Wish List page. The page is constantly updated with the items children need most. And the food is automatically delivered by Amazon to The Children’s Place on a regular basis.
So please, bring food into the office, or check out the wish list online. And there are also other ways to support the effort. Chance Pope and Monique Snead recently visited The Children’s Place to help keep the food pantry clean and set out the food that will be served to the children the following morning.
Ethan Becker also recently visited The Children’s Place to read to the kids.
Chance explained that the goal for the food drive isn’t really a specific number, but rather consistent participation that prevents the kids at The Children’s Place from having to be concerned about hunger.
“We usually end up with pretty good participation,” Chance said. “Our goal is to have them smile when we show up. It’s ongoing at all times.”
Anyone who would like to donate to the food pantry at The Children’s Place is advised to avoid anything with nuts (due to allergy concerns). The list of suggested items for the food pantry includes:
- Cereal bars (no nuts)
- Fruit cups
- Dried fruit/raisins/craisins (individual packages)
- Snacks like crackers, Goldfish, cookies, etc. (individual packages)
- Instant oatmeal (individual packages)
- Canned ravioli/SpaghettiOs
- Canned soups
- Applesauce (individual packages)
- Instant mashed potato packets
- Rice packets/Rice-A-Roni
- Canned tuna/chicken
- Pasta/ramen noodles
- Pasta sauce
- Cereal like Cheerios, Total, Life, Shredded Wheat or Frosted Flakes (individual boxes)
Let’s keep the momentum going for The Children’s Place. It’s a wonderful organization that provides support and a variety of services to children up to eight years old who have experienced trauma. Founded in 1978, The Children’s Place operates as a specialized trauma center, helping children heal from life’s deepest hurts.
The least we can do is help them get the meals they need, and this food drive is a very easy way to do it.
