The hosting of the World Cup has been an amazing experience for those of us based in Kansas City – a time in our lives we will likely never forget.
It has also been a time of major traffic challenges for everyone, but especially for those in the trucking community.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has once again issued an alert urging truckers to take alternate routes through Kansas City during upcoming matches.
Here are the details:
For matches starting on Friday, July 3 at 8:30 p.m. CDT (Colombia vs. Ghana) and Saturday, July 11, at 8 p.m. CDT (matchup to be determined), MoDOT urges truck drivers to avoid:
- I-70 near the Blue Ridge Cutoff
- U.S. 40 between Manchester and Sterling Ave.
- Stadium Drive between Manchester and U.S. 40
- NB I-435 near the Raytown Rd. / Stadium Dr. exit
Recommended alternate routes for trucks include:
- The I-435 loop (north or south bypass)
- I-470 (for southeast traffic)
In our estimation, both regular motorists and the trucking community are adjusting to the temporary traffic snags quite well. But anyone driving a truck route on the two nights in question should be prepared for their schedule to be impacted.
